Job,
You probably don’t remember me from when our paths crossed back in the early 60s. During that period, Bill and I both were speedskaters at the rink in Springfield, and went to a few competitions together, under the auspices of the UCT club in Champaign. Bill was a talented skater–not Olympic grade, but certainly competitive at the state level.
Bill called me about 7 years ago, and we spoke about Viet Nam, his life in southern FL, and various other topics, new and old. I retired 5 yr ago from the pharmaceutical industry and moved from Chicago to SW FL. I hoped to find Bill and visit him in the Keys, but was never able to locate him using internet resources. This morning I tried again, and remarkably, found your web site through the obituary posting. Of course, I was saddened to hear that Bill is gone–I guess we both had a large lapse of contact, and now we only have the vestigal memories. Thanks for the pics, and info in the posting.
I read some of your poetry and enjoyed it. My community cultural connection is art, and I paint SW FL scenes with the local plein air group as well as volunteering for the activities of the local art league.
Best Regards,
Rick Granneman
