Senor Conger’s friend Julio Barranzuela called to share the news THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20, his organization welcomes the ESPN World Salsa Champions to Theater Three at Hoogland Center For the Arts in lyrical downtown Springfield. There will be a performance by the champions and salsa dancing for everyone. Doors open at 7, the show is at 8, and after that come lessons and open floor dancing until 10. Refreshments will be available. Admission is $10 per person.
Someone said that Latin rhythms are so powerful they can revive the dead, and it would be foolish to dispute the point.
Julio is connected to Lincoln Land Community College and the multi-cultural events there as well as those sponsored by The Image, an organization that celebrates the many cultures of Latin American. Conger loves the music and the “joi de vivre” (as the French say) of the many cultures south of the customs inspectors. The event sounds like what friends south of Toronto Road would call “a hoot.” If you come to this event, you will leave happy.
Come Juan, come all!
Dance long . . . . . and proper.
