A funny thing happened on the way to getting my Ameren gassssssssssssssssss reconnected. When I heard the forecast for this weekend (lows in the low 30s and snow) I decided it was time to reconnect.
A call to Ameren brought the happy news that my MONEY ORDER (nothing had to clear anything) payment of November 3 had reached them YESTERDAY. What did the local payment receiving Professional Adjustment Bureau do with my money order for almost two weeks? Deposit it into an interest-earning account before turning it over to Ameren? Is that how they pay their bills? Clearly if I had tried to have my gas re-connected on say November 5, I’d have been out of luck.
Not that it had changed significantly. I was told they could not take my order for gas reconnecting this morning. I should call back this afternoon. No explanation of why. Just one of life’s little mysteries, I suppose, like how many fashion consultants does it take to dress a former Republican vice-presidential candidate?
So I called back a little after 3p and was told they could not take my rerquest for gas. I should call back Monday.
So I’ll call back Monday.
I’m cool with that.
Live long . . . . . . and proper.
