Up to the news that I have to purchase two new central air units to keep my upstairs renter happy, it had been a positive year so far. Last year at this time, my car had been without a muffler for two years. Now the car is street legal muffled. Last year in May I was into my second month without hot water from the tap. Today I have hot water from the tap, and to the tacit relieif of most who know me, I’m showering more frequently than I tubbed away the grime with help from kettles of hot water heated on my electric stove. Last year I was into my second year without a fully functioning kitchen sinkĀ and garbage disposal. Both are working fine today. Wait; there’s more. . . . .
And for the first time since December 2005, I have an article with my by-line on it in Illinois Times: my story about Elkhart, Illinois’ citizen Bob McCue and the village’s Spring Festival coming up Saturday, May 19. I hope you will pick up the issue and read the article and the other fine contributions by other writers. My contribution may mark the return of yours truly to IT on a reasonably regularly basis . . . . or not.
Jerome Prophet was wrote how amazed he was over my courage to write my heart. I told him I had nothing to lose, and that made it easy. Today, I celebrate reconnecting to a publication I enjoy writing for.
